Welcome to the website of the African Management Development Institutes' Network (AMDIN). AMDIN is a network of Management Development Institutes (MDIs), Public Sector Training Institutes (PSTIs) and other Public Administration Institutions (PAIs) based in Africa. The network was launched in 2005, and completed all legal formalities regarding its establishment in 2007.

The overall objective of AMDIN is to facilitate the optimal functioning of African MDIs, PSTIs and PAIs and to provide a collective platform for these institutions to engage with various stakeholder communities.

We welcome you to our website which provides a snapshot of AMDIN and we hope will increasingly serve as a preferred destination for those interested in contributing to the development of capacity of our African public administrators, managers, leaders and organisations.

AMDIN/JICA/PALAMA TOT - October 2009

The fourth cohort in a 5 year programme of Training of Trainers (TOT) courses has just been successfully completed. The initiative forms part of an agreement in terms of which JICA, AMDIN and PALAMA are committed to present the training for roleplayers from across the continent and inclusive of the langauge groups represented. The previous course in February 2009 was for French speaking participants while the latest one was presented in English.

The training took place in Pretoria from 12 to 23 October 2009 and was attended by a record number of 37 participants from 18 institutions in 11 countries. Particularly noteworthy was the large number of female participants who attended this course namely 15 and their active participation in the debates and discussions. The course was facilitated by Messrs Rodney Mwamba and Victor Mokoena who both have extensive experience in training and presenting the TOT course in particular.

An intensive syllabus consisting of 6 modules was covered during the two weeks and attendees were required to actively participate e.g. by individual and group assignments and constant interaction.

A cultural exposure experience was also shared when the group paid a visit to Soweto and its various heritage sights following the first week of the course. The about to be completed Soccer City where the World cup will kick off in 2010 was also briefly visited.

All participants were awarded certificates of attendance at an awards ceremony after the completion of the course.
